How to program your 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 Mercury Mystique remote keyless entry fob alarm by yourself at home without going to the dealer.
Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located behind the glove box.
–Dropping the glove box.
–Locating and jumping the programming connector.
No tools required! Empty the glove box. On each side of glove box are black plastic sides. Gently press inwards both sides simultaneously, so that rollers release from each track. The glove box will rotate downward revealing the cavity behind. Look to the right of the cavity. Taped into a bunch are many wires. Hanging there is a flat grey plastic connector (female) with nothing connected. Turn the ignition key to ‘On’. With a paper clip, momentarily jump the two programming connector contacts within the programming connector. The door locks will cycle, notifying you that the car has entered programming mode. Now follow factory instructions below.
All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode.
Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press
any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF.
Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
