This is how to program your 1997, 1998, and 1999 Pontiac Sunfire keyless entry remote yourself at home without going to the dealer…
IMPORTANT: Before entering programming mode, have in possession all of the transmitters you will be using on the vehicle. Once you program the transmitter, all previous codes will be erased from the memory. The other transmitters will not be functional until you program the transmitters again. You can program up to 4 remotes
1. Switch ignition OFF
2. Access the programming connector (located in LH trunk)
3. Jump (connect) programming connector terminals (you can use paper clip or wire) If you will pull the liner from behind the left rear taillights on driver side of car you will see a small plug inline that leads to a small black box on wheel well which is the receiver for the keyless remote
4. System should now lock and unlock doors, trunk and chirp horn to indicate programming mode activated
5. Proceed as follows:
A Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote for up to 15 seconds
B System should lock and unlock doors, trunk and chirp horn to indicate remote programmed
6 Repeat above procedure for other additional remotes
7 Remove programming connector jumper clip or wire to exit programming mode
