Here are some simple instructions on how to program your 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Chevrolet Monte Carlo remote keyless entry fob yourself at home for free without going to the dealer!

Switch ignition ON.
Press vehicle information button Fig. 2 [A] until PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY is displayed.
Press set/reset button Fig. 2 [B] until REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
Programming mode activated, proceed as follows:
Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on first remote transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.
Wait for acoustic signal (indicates correct programming).
Repeat above procedure to program remaining remote transmitters.
Switch ignition OFF to exit programming mode.
Remote transmitters can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
NOTE: A maximum of 8 remote transmitters can be programmed.

(2006 Monte Carlo LT 3.9) When I press the check mark to relearn remote key, the display does not say REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE
It should come right up… Assuming you do have the factory keyless system on the vehicle and that you have not altered the electrical system on the car. If you have changed out the radio, or have an aftermarket alarm on the car it might be affected. Try rebooting by disconnecting the car’s battery for a few minutes and then trying the procedure again.
