You can program the remote portion of your 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Toyota Corolla remote key yourself at home with these simple instructions.
**You will still need to take the key to be cut and have transponder chip programmed to start the car. Cutting and programming of the KEY portion must be done by a Toyota Dealer or an automotive locksmith.
**THIS PROGRAMMING METHOD WILL NOT PROGRAM THE SMART KEY UNIT**
**There is also a free programming tutorial video below to show you how easy it is done.

i have used the same REMOTE CONTROL key exactly with corolla -Toyota 2009 ,and followed the same instructions exactly ,but remote control key never responding !Also when i reach step ((Switch ignition ON and OFF once to program a remote transmitter code whilst retaining the original codes or twice to program a remote transmitter code whilst erasing the original codes.
Remove key from ignition switch:
System should now lock and unlock vehicle once, twice or five times )) but my vehicle are not locked or unlocked automatically ,i just stuck on this step.WONDERING ARE ALL COROLLA CARS SHOULD DO THE SAME THING WITH THE SYSTEM ?
Are you sure the car is factory keyless entry equipped? Cycle the key on/off, on/off (twice) and see if it responds.
If you still aren’t having any luck, you can try rebooting the keyless system by doing an electrical reset on the vehicle.
To do this you would simply disconnect one of the car’s battery cables for about 15-20 minutes, reconnect and then try the programming again.
Sometimes this will solve any ‘bugs’ that may be keeping the remote from programming.
Hello,
Thank you for the info! The key portion off of my 2011 Camry remote key broke off, but the remote was still working so I purchased a key shell. I went to the dealership and they cut the new key for free for me.
However, when I put the remote from the old key into the new one, it won’t start the car. How do I program this?
Thank you
You need the chip from your old key as well. The chip is what will allow you to start the car. You can switch it from your old remote/key.
